BIOGRAPHY

Areli Cortés

Areli Cortés is a Mexican harpsichordist, organist and basso continuo player based in the Netherlands. She specialises in Baroque repertoire and historical performance practice, with extensive experience accompanying singers and instrumentalists on harpsichord and organ.

She completed a Master’s Degree in Harpsichord and Basso Continuo at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague with Fabio Bonizzoni, Carole Cerasi and Patrick Ayrton. Her research explored how the continuo player can accompany and actively support singers in Monteverdi’s madrigals.

Before this, she completed a Master’s Degree in Historical Keyboards at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Wolfgang Brunner and Florian Birsak, alongside Bachelor’s degrees in piano and harpsichord in Mexico City. She has performed in Mexico, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Finland and France.
